Northern California bankruptcy lawyer
Hello. Welcome to Bankruptcy Soapbox, the less formal and more opinionated companion to Bankruptcy In Brief.
I’ve written nearly every piece on these sites to give the public a better understanding of bankruptcy law and the personal finance issues that underlie family financial health. And I corral professional friends to add their expertise to the discussion.
I’ve been practicing bankruptcy law in the Silicon Valley since 1980, having started my own firm directly out of law school at Hastings College of Law.
I love the opportunity that bankruptcy law gives me to help people in financial distress get control of their finances and move forward to meet their goals. Bankruptcy is such a powerful tool that usually produces quick and certain relief from most debts.
I’ve been a certified bankruptcy specialist since 1996, and was recently appointed to the State Bar’s Bankruptcy Law Advisory Board.
Born in California’s Central Valley, I graduated from Stanford University in political science and worked in politics and media before returning to law school
I’m privileged to share my experience and approach to bankruptcy with lawyer groups across the country.
The Firm
The Moran Law Group in Redwood City concentrates its practice in insolvency and related debtor-creditor and tax areas. My law partner Renee Mendoza and I have worked together for over 25 years.
Our clients include both creditors and debtors in courts throughout the San Francisco Bay Area, including Silicon Valley, San Mateo County, the Central Coast and the East Bay.
We offer personalized attention, years of experience, and solutions that are practical and cost effective for individuals, businesses and creditors. We work hard at helping clients understand their choices and make decisions that maximize outcomes.
My professional life is enhanced by my law partner Renee Mendoza who brainstorms with me when the problems are complex. She makes the behind-the-scenes law office work and masters the myriad of details and procedures that practicing before the Bay Area’s bankruptcy judges requires.
